The Bavarian Laser Centre (blz) is a research institute under private law in the surroundings of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). It was founded in 1993 in the course of the formation of the Bavarian Research Network Laser Technology FORLAS. Today, it is one of the centres of applied laser research in Germany.
It is the objective of the blz to open up new areas of application for lasers through research, development and efficient knowledge transfer. The blz sees itself as the connective link between fundamental research and industrial application.
The Bavarian Laser Centre provides an extensive seminar programme in the range of optical technologies. Furthermore, the blz brings the application to the researchers. As coordinator and initiator of numerous networks and transfer associations, the blz is able to act as agent for the right specialist for almost any problem concerning applied laser technology.
As Engineering-Partner the blz develops its own solutions for the industry and qualifies laser procedures for a variety of application areas. The know-how in the field of laser safety is utilised to examine eye safety equipment, filters and safety walls against laser radiation and to carry out surveys, consultations and schooling. Furthermore, the blz develops and produces custom-designed optical systems and components.
The blz offers close contacts to industry and universities as well as a wide spectrum of modern laser systems and a young and motivated team of highly qualified employees. It is our ambition that as many users as possible get the chance to benefit from the advantages of innovative laser technology.
