Prof. Manfred Geiger appoints laser technology as one research focus of the newly founded Chair of Manufacturing Technology (LFT) at the Friedrich-AlexanderUniversity Erlangen Nuremberg (FAU).
Laser research at the university is concentrated in the Research Network Laser Technology (FLE). In the beginning of the year 1990, the Registered Association for the Development of Laser Technology at the FAU is established.
On the initiative of the FLE the Bavarian Laser Center is founded on 25th November 1993
Two Companies emerge from the blz: Erlanger Lasertechnik GmbH in 1998 and Laserquipment AG two years later. The blz now focuses more strongly on Micro Technology and Precision Engineering
