The automotive industry is one of the industry sectors that makes particularly intensive use of the hightech tool laser for production. The various application areas range from welding of car body components to laser soldering of connectors and electronic contacts as well as laser plastics welding of electronic housings or laser marking of interior parts.

 

Since its foundation the Bavarian Laser Centre has been working with automotive manufacturers and their suppliers in a number of development orders and research projects. In the context of these activities the laser processing technologies are adapted to the special challenges of the industry sector, process analyses are carried out and solutions for guaranteeing process stability are developed. In some cases components are even manufactured in small series.
