Visible laser radiation is of increasing interest e.g. for the processing of copper, but also gold and other non-ferrous and precious metals. Advantages are a higher absorption at room temperature compared to infrared laser radiation and a smaller step of absorption during transition from solid to liquid phase. This leads to a more efficient and stable thermal conduction welding process. For deep penetration welding visible wavelengths are expected to stabilize the vapour capillary and expand the process window. As of late the only frequency-doubled disk laser with 3 kW power in Europe is available at blz. The laser emits radiation at 515 nm with a beam quality of 8 mm * mrad. With this beam source and the long-standing expertise for laser beam joining, we are able to investigate the green laser radiation for your applications. In addition to joining applications, issues of additive manufacturing are also possible.
