Application example: Joining battery cells

As one of the first institutions in Germany, we ventured into the process of contacting charged battery modules. We know how cell contacting should be carried out and can also weld small batch sizes for industrial applications.

Application example: Welding of electric motors

Together with several partners, we developed a 48V motor. The challenge? Reliable welding of the hairpin contacts. A challenge for some, but for us, with our expertise and the right system technology, it's now routine.

Application example: Joining bipolar plates

Bipolar plates are becoming increasingly important. One of the key challenges is ensuring reliable and reproducible joining at high speeds. We have advanced the process and are achieving welding speeds of more than 1.5 m/s. The best part? High-resolution, high-speed recordings that allow us to observe the formation of defects in slow motion.

Application example: Surface cleaning

Our pulsed and ultrashort pulsed laser systems allow us to remove even the finest impurities. This prevents defects in subsequent processing steps or improves product performance through enhanced surface finish.

FAQs about the fields of activity of the Bavarian Laser Center

What laser applications do we work with, and which industries do we serve? You'll find the answers here.

  • Where has the Bavarian Laser Center already provided successful support?

In the past, for example, we have used our high-resolution, high-speed cameras to optimize welding processes with regard to spatter formation. Our algorithms allow us to track the formation and spread of spatter, thus contributing to highly efficient processes with minimal scrap.

  • Has the Bavarian Laser Center already developed processes that have subsequently been implemented industrially?

Yes, of course! We have already developed various processes for partners from a wide range of industries. These optimized processes help to minimize the error rate and thus maximize profits for the respective companies.

  • In which fields does the Bavarian Laser Center work?

We operate in the traditional automotive and aerospace industries, as well as in emerging technologies such as quantum technology. Our focus is strongly on solutions rather than products, ensuring we always keep the added value for our partners in mind. Our greatest advantage? The laser's high flexibility.

  • Is my use case the right one for you?

Do you want to benefit from the advantages of laser technology in your product? Then you've come to the right place. We advise and support you during the trial process and provide assistance with our many years of expertise.
