Development of a modular, scalable and space-optimized high-voltage battery system kit (SBBhybrid)

Within the SBBhybrid project, a large consortium is researching hydrogen technology. This involves addressing a multitude of challenges. We are actively involved through gas- and media-tight welding of a wide variety of materials, from thin films to thick sheets.

High-throughput coating of tool steels while avoiding defects by controlling cooling conditions using jet forming (StraHoBe)

In the StraHoBe project We are optimizing laser powder deposition welding of high-carbon tool steels. Through the targeted use of beam shaping, we aim to improve process quality by preventing issues such as cracking. Simultaneously, we want to increase process efficiency and double build rates compared to the current state of the art. Spoiler alert? It doesn't stop at a factor of 2.

FAQs

about our research projects

Here you will find quick answers to the most frequently asked questions about research projects with and at the Bavarian Laser Center.

  • I would like to cooperate with the Bavarian Laser Center - is that possible?

Yes, absolutely! We at the Bavarian Laser Center are always looking for reliable partners from industry. Only by understanding the various issues that are relevant today can we develop solutions together.

  • Is the Bavarian Laser Center an industry or research partner?

We at the Bavarian Laser Center see ourselves as a research partner and are therefore similar to universities.

  • Cooperation with universities is often difficult due to legal frameworks. Is this also the case with the Bavarian Laser Center?

No, definitely not! Regarding cooperation, we are significantly more flexible than universities. Our motto: Secure as much as necessary so that each partner can work on the project with a clear conscience. At the same time, keep the effort involved to a minimum.

  • What topics are the focus of the Bavarian Laser Center?

We at the Bavarian Laser Center have or have had projects funded by organizations such as the DFG, the Bavarian Research Foundation, or the ZIM program. We will find the right funding institution for your joint project.
